THE SHOW MUST GO ON
The show must go on was a phrase which was first heard in the late 1800’s in the circus. It was used after an incident such as a tiger on the loose, in order to keep the patrons calm and reassured. The phrase caught on and has been used in show business ever since meaning that regardless of what happens, whatever disaster unfolds backstage, the show will continue.
2020 has felt to me, like a circus in many ways. The virus may as well be a wild animal, running havoc, impossible to control. We walk around on tightropes, afraid of touching anyone or anything around us, afraid of falling.
We wear masks hiding our faces, we perform balancing acts trying desperately to keep ourselves stable. We paint on smiles and tell jokes to our children to distract them from the fear behind the makeup. We practice the act of juggling of work, home school and exercise, all while caged in our homes. We bend, twist and contort ourselves into every position possible to fit in to this new world.
The only difference is that the circus of 2020 is not entertaining a single person, the ring leader is delusional and we are all frantically awaiting that fall of the final curtain.
Is anyone else thinking they would have much rather just have tackled the wild animal and been done with it? Yeah, me too.
If you are feeling apprehensive and a little reluctant to head into the next phase, know that you are not alone in those worries. Life has changed significantly since we last got together, it is almost unrecognisable. It has looked uncertain and quite frankly bleak. It has dramatically affected our mental wellbeing. None more so than our children who have been pulled out of their social support groups and are no doubt full of confusion and anxiety.
The good news and yes there is some good news, as the lockdowns begin to lift and the new normal is on the horizon, Big Bold Youth is reopening its doors. Pandemic or no pandemic, the show must indeed go on.
We have been working tirelessly to make sure that come September, we will be able to begin classes again. We are fully equipped, prepared and above all excited to take on these new challenges and will continue to provide you with accessible, affordable and high-quality opportunities. We will be doing everything in our power to make certain that your kids’ safety is our number one priority.
The numbers of students we will be admitting to each session are going to be limited to ensure that it is possible to maintain social distancing throughout. Drop offs and pick-ups will be running on a one-way system to avoid crowds of parents or carers gathering outside. There will be mandatory sanitation stations for anyone coming in and out as well as classrooms being vigorously cleaned between each group. We hope that these measures will help to ease any concerns you might have about coming along.

At Big Bold Youth we believe that everyone and anyone should have the opportunity to get involved in Drama, we know the invaluable, positive influence that these activities have on the mental wellbeing of young people. Taking drama classes at Big Bold Youth is going to rebuild some of the structure, stimulation and social interaction back in to the lives of your children. They will be learning, growing and developing as a young people, instructed my industry professionals. Given the stress and uncertainty we have all experienced so far in 2020, the upcoming classes are going to be of an incomparable benefit to them.
Let’s tame the circus beast together and fill the last few months of 2020 with some positivity and fun.
